Maria Vidris, 93, passed away in Brick on October 13, 2016. She was born in Pola, Italy, on the beautiful Istrian peninsula, where she met her first and only love, Aligi. They immigrated to the US following WWII. Maria lived in Clifton for 46 years and recently in Lebanon, N.J. She received a degree in Accounting from the Istituto Tecnico, Leonardo da Vinci, in Pola.
Maria had a gentle sense of humor, was the embodiment of serenity, graciousness, compassion, and modesty, and was the heart and soul of her family. She was the consummate diplomat with many friends who sought her sound advice and confided in her. She had a loving disposition, a beautiful smile, and gave of her time to others without hesitation. Her passions were traveling, entertaining, dressmaking, and cooking.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Aligi in 2004. She is survived by her daughters Giuliana and her husband Robert Hagel, of Lebanon, NJ, Lorenza Vidris and her husband Thomas Norton, of Pine Brook, NJ, and Sylvia and her husband Cliff Wittenberg, of Little Silver, NJ; by her grandchildren Alexandra Hagel, Stefanie Wittenberg, Emily Wittenberg, and Rachel Catapano; and by a great grandson Justin Stowe.
