Maria Martinelli of Shelton, widow of Remo Martinelli, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the age of 89. Born in Fano, Italy on October 13, 1925 to Carlo Carboni and Dina Pompili, she moved to the United States in 1954 with her husband and three young children. Maria was retired from the Acme United Corporation in Bridgeport, where she worked for many years as a scissor inspector.
She is survived by her devoted children Giulio Martinelli and his wife Judy of Saline, MI, Giuliana (Julie) D’Onofrio and her husband Richard of Milford, and Carla Paradiso of Shelton; her grandchildren Dina Sabo and her husband Michael, David Martinelli and his wife Lucinda, Elisa Goncalves and her husband Rodolfo, Elena Paradiso and her husband Bryan, Alicia Garfield and her husband Brian, Scott Martinelli and his wife Christine, and Michael Paradiso, his girlfriend Amanda and her son Landon; as well as her twelve great-grandchildren Zachary, Emily, Alexander, Adam, Jonas, Maya, Olivia, Eleni, Andrew, Elizabeth, Wyatt, and Cole. She is also survived by her siblings Carlo Carboni of Trumbull, and Giorgio Carboni, Teresa Gaudenzi, and Carmen Romeo, all of Fano, Italy, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Maria was predeceased by her son-in-law Michael Paradiso, her brother Emilio Carboni and her sister Nella Carboni.
