Maria Sophia Zaino Iagrossi, 90, of New Haven passed away Dec. 24, 2013 in Hamden Health Care after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Joseph Iagrossi. Born in New Haven on Sept 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Catello and Olympia Gabella Zaino. Prior to her retirement, she was an inspector for Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals. She is survived by two daughters, Marisa (Paul) Vitelli of New Haven and Mary Grace (Stephen) Hunt of Hamden; two sons, Michael J. (Nicole) Iagrossi of West Haven and William C. Iagrossi of New Haven; two brothers, Dino Zaino and Joseph (Sarah) Zaino, both of Hamden; five grandchildren, Paul Jr., Matthew & Nicole Vitelli, Andrew & Charles Iagrossi; eight great grandchildren, Gabriella, Joseph, Sophia, Catello, Lorenzzo, Shane & Riley and Gino; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Frank S., Giro “Gene” and Angelo “Sal” Zaino. The family is very grateful to the staff at Hamden Health Care for their love and devotion shown to Sophie during her stay there.
