Maria (Santoro) Scalora, 89, of Newington, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Gaspare Scalora. Born in Italy, daughter of the late Ignacio and Anna (Finocchi) Santoro, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1962. Maria married Gaspare in 1965 and was a Newington resident ever since. She loved to garden and spend her time cooking for her family. A loving and devoted mother, she leaves her two sons, Frank Scalora and his wife Cindy of Newington, Carlo and his wife Danielle of Naugatuck and her two grandchildren, Frank Scalora, Jr. and Danielle Scalora, both of ME. She also leaves her three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruno and Elaine Santoro of New Hartford, Gabriel and Antoinette Santoro of Torrington, Guido and Maria Santoro of Medford, MA and her sister, Vera Silvestre of Wethersfield and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her in-laws, Lydia Longo of Rocky Hill, Angela Scalora of New Britain, Nancy Longo of Windsor, Maria Scalora of Wethersfield, Salvatore Scalora of Willimantic and Benny Scalora and his wife Vincenza of FL.
