Maria Isabel “Chavela” Canales, 84, went to be with the Lord Saturday. January 12, 2019 in Harlingen.She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend.”Chavela or Chavelita” as her family and friends knew her best, was born on September 23, 1934. She married Abelino Canales on January 25, 1960.She took great joy in taking care of her grandchildren, making them gorditas, bunuelos, playing chalupa and reading to them. She lived a very happy and fulfilled life and will be dearly missed.Preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.She is survived by her children, Blanca (David) Garza,Pedro Antonio “Tony” (Norma) Canales, Dora Alicia (Valerio) Longoria and Benito (Cynthia) Canales, Grandchildren, Santiago David Garza, Ramiro Roberto Garza, Erasmo (Marisella) Chapa, Eric (Amy) Chapa, Celina Isabel (Jaime) Rangel, Samantha Longoria, Michael Anthony Canales, Matthew Robert Canales, Abel Alfredo Canales and Abraham Elijah Canales, great grandchildren, Karolina and Kolette, Madison, Katherine, Courtney and Colton, Sister, Juana Hernandez. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces other relatives and friends.
