Maria Gloria Butts passed away at the age of 87 on March 5, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born July 16, 1933 in Sevilla, Spain, the youngest daughter of Juan Velazquez Delgado and Rosario Rodriguez Bover.
Gloria married Roy Randell Butts on September 12, 1958 in Sevilla, Spain and they had four children, Thelma, Maria, Emilia and Roy Jr. They spent the next 30 years together until Roy’s death in 1988. As a military family they were stationed at numerous locations domestic and abroad.
She was an alto soprano at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, Spain. She shared her beautiful voice with many throughout her years especially in catholic services. She was a member of the Legion of Maria visiting terminally ill patients, lifting their spirits with her funny and warm personality.
Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, traveling, taking long walks and collecting antiques.
Gloria is survived by her children Thelma R Butts (Roland), Maria G Briel (David), Emilia J Cosentino (Andrew) and Roy R. Butts; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
