Maria passed away following a long illness on Apr 30, 2013. She was born Nov. 3, 1927 in Oberneudorf Transylvania, Romania, the second daughter of Georg and Sofia Rehner Hesch. Her father died when she was one year old.
She worked as a payroll clerk at Youngstown Steel Door for four years and Stambaugh Thompson Company for six years.
Maria married her loving husband John Gal on Sep. 8, 1951; they moved to Niceville in 1991 to be close to their children. He died Dec. 25, 1998.
She is survived by her son Richard (Connie) Gal with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her daughter Marlene (Gary) Patterson of Jacksonville, grandchildren Stephanie (Adam) Hess of Savannah, GA, Kristin and Ricky Gal of Niceville, Michael and Caitlin Sheridan, Rachael (Ian) Smith, Jacob and Nathan Patterson, all of Jacksonville and great grandchildren Jordan and Haley Hess and Presley Smith.
