Maria Delia Delgado

October 9, 1965 – July 21, 2021

On Wednesday, July 21st, 2021, Maria Delia Delgado entered Heaven the way she lived her life, with courage, dignity, resilience, and the strength and with unconditional love of family.

Delia was born and raised in Harlingen, Texas to Manuel+ and Genoveva R Delgado on October 9, 1965. She attended Harlingen High School and Pan American University in Edinburg, Tx. She served as the Religious Education Director at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harlingen where she was also a dedicated member of the church choir. It was during her time at IHMC that she formed numerous lifelong friendships. Eventually her journey led her to Temple, Texas where she worked for many years until returning to the Valley with her son, Joshua, to care for her mother.

During her time in Harlingen, she volunteered extensively at the Zavala Elementary Parent Center and Wreaths Across America.

First and foremost, Delia was a devoted mother. She treasured Joshua and embraced every moment with him. She made sure she captured every picture and every event. She had a lively personality and always made people around her laugh. Although we may no longer see Delia physically, she has left an indelible mark on us all and we are fortunate to have known her. She would want us to find comfort in knowing she is free from pain and home with our Heavenly Father. She will be deeply loved forever, always in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her loving son Joshua Herrera, her mother, Genoveva R. Delgado, her siblings, Maria Oralia (Agustin+) Gomez, Herlinda (Juan) Macias, Rolando (Lydia) Rodriguez, Manuel Delgado Jr., Rene (Diana) Delgado and Francisco Delgado. Delia also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Delia is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Delgado Sr, and her beloved pet Darla.
