Marguerite P. Stoops, 90, of Anderson, passed away on August 14, 2015 at her residence. She was born on July 9, 1925 in North Vernon, Indiana and resided most of her life in Anderson. Marguerite graduated from Anderson High School, and attended Franklin College. She retired from the Social Security office after working in Florida, Kentucky, and in Anderson. She was a member of Fifth Street United Methodist Church, White Shrine of Jerusalem, where she was past Worthy High Priestess, 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Past Worthy Matron.

She was a member of the original widow and widowers organization in Alexandria. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Euchre, being outside walking, and working in the yard, and spending time with her family. Marguerite is survived by her loving children, Janet Klingler, Edward (Betsy) Stoops, Danny (Adele) Stoops, Cheryl Crist, daughter-in-law, Penny Stoops, grandchildren, Jimmy (Tammy) Klingler, Billy (Angie) Thompson, Joe Thompson, Spencer Thompson, David Stoops, Caitlyn Stoops, Jareb Stoops, Jamie (Kim) Lovell, Michael(Monica) Lovell, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Stoops, who was the Chief of Fire Prevention for the City of Anderson, son, Gary Stoops, mother, Lena Humbles, father, Samuel Humbles.
