Marguerite Lorraine Ashland passed away peacefully at home with family by her side early Saturday November 18, 2017. Lorraine was the eldest child of William Charles Tifft and Marguerite Howe Hubbell. Her life began April 9, 1928 in Seymour, Connecticut, a sleepy little town on the banks of the Naugatuck River. She attended school and graduated with honors from Seymour High in 1945 and went on to earn a BFA in 1949 from the Rhode Island School of Design. Lorraine met Walter I. Ashland Jr. whom she would marry in 1951. They had two daughters, Susanne and Sara.
