Marguerite “Marge” G. (Dunwoody) Bastian, 87, of Peru passed away January 14, 2015 at JPO Retirement Home in Dalzell where she had resided for the last month.
Marge was born March 29, 1927 in Dubuque, IA to George and Belva (Duncan) Dunwoody. She married Robert A Bastian on June 3, 1950 in St. Patrick Church, Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death August 26, 2012. Marge was a longtime resident of Peru and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a past secretary for the Illinois Valley American Red Cross and a homemaker. She loved to spend time with her family and was a devoted wife, caretaker, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her eight children, Lynn (Dan) Winkler of Brown Deer, Wis., Kathy (Ken) Pisarczyk of Spring Valley, Ann Ganze of Spring Valley, Robert A. (Kathy) Bastian Jr. of Columbia, Md., Mary Salz of Wenona, Thomas J. Bastian Sr. of Ladd, Paul (JoAnn) Bastian of Spring Valley and Peggy (David) Waldorf of Peru; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Finn of Dubuque, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert A. Bastian Sr.; a grandson, William M. Salz; a daughter-in-law, Janine Bastian; four sisters and seven brothers. Pallbearers will be Ken Pisarczyk, David Waldorf, Tristan Pisarczyk, Jason Pisarczyk, Adam Salz, Paul Michael Bastian. Honorary pallbearers will be Kate Pisarczyk and Emily Waldorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Valley American Red Cross, Illinois Valley Pads or St. Bede Academy. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Professional Health Care Staffing Inc. and to Jan Musgrove and the staff at JPO Retirement Home in Dalzell for the care and concern they showed Marge and her family.
