Born on December 23, 1918 to William R. Chadwick and Myrtie Carson in Mab, Louisiana. She later moved to Oakdale, Baton Rouge, and lastly to New Orleans where she resided over 60 years. She died on November 19, 2016 in New Orleans at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Callie C. O’Neil, Louise C. Linder, Myra C. Blades and Myla C. King. She was married once to Louis Pellerin of Baton Rouge, and then to Amos L. Ponder, Jr. of New Orleans for 50 years, prior to his death.

She is survived by her daughters, Marguerite “Chad”wick Pellerin and Amanda Ponder Strickland, two grandchildren, Carson W. Strickland (Amie) and Callie S. Folse (Richard) and four great grandchildren, Julia and Ford Strickland, and Marguerite and Nolan Folse, several nieces and nephews, and her former sister-in-law, Claire P. Schmidt of Dutchtown, Louisiana.

She was an employee of several agencies of the State, most notably the Attorney General’s Office under the reform era of Governor Robert Kennon. She was a secretary to, and remained friends with, a young attorney in that office, named Lawrence Chehardy. She married Amos Ponder in 1951 and moved to New Orleans.
