Margo (Mary Margaret) Nowell of Tularosa, New Mexico was taken into Paradise on the last full moon of winter, March 7, 2023. Her struggle with cancer ended, she left this world in her sleep at the family home, loved ones by her side.
Born in Carrizozo, New Mexico, on the first day of fall 1935, to Dink and Verda Myers, Margo grew up amongst the pioneers of this land whom her great grandfather called “Pals”. She never forgot the lessons learned during World War II and the Great Depression. Margo started school in Morenci, Arizona where her father worked in the power plant at the Phelps Dodge mine. Upon her family’s return to Tularosa, her intelligence, outgoing personality, and willingness to help others earned her many honors in high school and friends that would last a lifetime.
In 1955, she returned home from NMSU to marry Shelby Ray Bryant, her high school sweetheart, who proceeded her in death in 1962 while working for CPS in Pecos, Texas. In 1964, a very brave man, Buster (Lloyd S) Nowell won Margo’s hand in marriage and together they raised their family here in Tularosa.
Margo was an active member of many organizations and most recently secretary of the Tularosa United Methodist Church and administrator of the Tularosa Food Bank. One of her greatest pleasures was singing in the choir at church. The endeavors throughout her life are an example of the support she gave to her family, church, and community.
Margo is survived by her brother, Jack E Myers; her daughters, Shelley Bryant and Jeri Bryant-Saenz (Garry); her son, Coe Nowell (Josephine); seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; in-laws, outlaws and many more she adopted along the way.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Buster Nowell; daughters, Tamera and Jackie Bryant; and ancestors too numerous to mention.
