Margit was born Margit Delight Paulsen, the youngest child of Erling and Mary Paulsen on May 19, 1930 on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho. She attended grade school in Wapello and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1948. She later attended Idaho State College in Pocatello where she met James Schutt and married him on August 12, 1950. Together, they had two daughters, Janice and Norma. James passed in 1957. Margit then married Donald Sage on August 18, 1960 and had two children, Sharon and Mark Sage. Donald passed in 1979. On March 13, 1997, Margit married Rulon Pickett and very much enjoyed her remaining years with him. With him, their families were merged, and she now had a wonderfully large and supportive family. Margit was always busy with something. She served as Worthy Matron of Henrietta Chapter 21, Order of the Eastern Star. She square danced up a storm and enjoyed sewing her square dance dresses, matching men’s shirts, and kids’ school clothes. Margit always enjoyed her bridge club and sang for awhile in the Sweet Adelines. She even acted in a play with the ARTI theatre company.
