Margie McCoy Dubes, (age 75), passed away on September 18, 2022. Margie was born February 25, 1947, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Leirer McCoy and Vivian Kreider McCoy. Margie graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield (Delaware County), Pennsylvania. Later, she graduated from Franklin College in 1969 with an AB degree in Elementary Education, and she was active in Pi Beta Phi sorority. While teaching in the Lafayette School Corporation, she received a Master’s Degree from Purdue University in Education in 1972.
Margie married Joseph E. Dubes III in Springfield, PA on June 21, 1969. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Joseph E. Dubes IV (wife Shelby and children Carson and Josie) and Charles Christopher Dubes (wife Jamie and children Myleigh and Maddox). She was proceeded in death by her sister Vivian McCoy Houston (husband Mark).
Margie’s calling was her family, friends, and community. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, shoulder to lean on and an ear for all that needed her counsel. She was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette, Indiana where she served on many boards, was active in Circle 13 and Bible Babes, helped to shepherd the flock through Stephen Ministry, and had fun with the seniors through Senior Fun Days.
She served on community boards at the Lafayette YMCA and boards at Lafayette Jefferson High School where she supported the athletic and academic endeavors of her two sons along with all student athletes. Her involvement in the Booster Club led to enhancement of scholarships for student athletes and opening a new door in her life as an antique dealer. Margie was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word, and this was demonstrated in an antique business that allowed her the opportunity to give back to her community, friends, and clientele.
Her passion for horseback riding, especially the discipline of dressage and natural horsemanship, was one of learning and enjoying. Her horse, Bretteur, shared the love of dressage and natural horsemanship and always attempted to maximize his efforts as a way of rewarding his friend. Margie was at home with her friends at the barn. She also loved reading, crafts, and travel with her family.
Margie cared about people and was always there to help. She always had time, love, and caring for her husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, friends, and strangers. She attempted to create an environment for all where they could develop to their full potential. She led by example and spread God’s love to the best of her ability.
