Margie Ann Michael, 90, of Centralia, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 22, 2020.
She was born December 24, 1929 in Farrington Township, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel E. French and Susie J. (Davis) French. Margie married Kenneth Earl Michael on October 20, 1952 in Union City, Tennessee and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is also survived by her three children: Kenneth N. Michael and wife Nancy of Muncie, Indiana, Ronald L. Michael and wife Linda of Texico, and Linda Kay Reynolds and husband David of Centralia; seven grandchildren: Tammy Wooters and husband Jeff of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Ranee Garner and husband John of Texico, Kris Hope and husband Terry of Carterville, Kaci Peters and husband Darren of Centralia, Leah Ritter and husband Jesse of Atlanta, Georgia, Rebecca Reynolds of the Caucasus, and Jonathan Reynolds and girlfriend Layla Waddell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren: Chad Garner and wife Mary Beth, Chelsey Michael and husband Layne, Dakota Garner, Savannah Garner, Taylor Garner, Zachary Wooters, Chelsea Romero and husband Juan, Madison Dawson, and Kaiden Peters; nine great-great-grandchildren: Leslie Michael, Kamryn Michael, Mackenna Michael, Finn Michael, Peyton Kresch, Mason Kresch, Eva Romero, Ben Romero, and Charley Leydet; a niece: Betty Southerd and husband Bob of Texico: and a cousin: Mary Lois Brinkmann of Carlyle.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Susie French: a grandson: Chad Michael: a brother: Stanley French: and a nephew: George French.
Margie graduated from Mt.Vernon Township High School in 1948. She did office work in Mt. Vernon during the early years of 1948 to 1968 at the Mt. Vernon Neon Sign Co., Social Security Field Office, and the Wagner Electric Company. She also worked at the Miss Elaine Garment Factory in Centralia from 1983 until her retirement in 1992.
Margie was a member of the Wells Chapel General Baptist Church from 1942 – 1983 and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Centralia since 1983. She also was a General Baptist representative on Hudelson House Baptist Children’s Home Board of Directors for 3 years beginning in November 1998.
Margie enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
