Margarett Louise Shackelford Williams was born on February 27, 1942 to Jessie Shackelford and Marian Lou Hood Shackelford in Courtland, AL. Mrs. Williams transitioned on September 8, 2022, at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Margarett attended Tennessee Valley School. She was baptized at an early age and joined First Baptist in Hillsboro. She later united with Minor Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother’s Board and was faithful until her health failed.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Sammie Williams on March 3, 1972 and to this union one child was born. She was happily married for 50 years. Margarette enjoyed cooking, sewing, and talking daily with her sister, Betty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lonnie Shackelford; three sisters, Annie Lou Shackelford Thompson, Ellen Chapman and Candice Pointer; two stepsisters, Sylvia Pointer and Maria Mason; one brother-in-law, LW Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Sammie Williams, Moulton, AL; daughter, Demetra (Randy) McDaniel of Moulton, AL; sister, Betty Taylor of Cleveland, OH; mother-in-law, Alice Williams; special sister-in-law, Betty Sue Mayes; sisters-in-law, Barbara Williams, Alice Carter, Nancy Williams, Brenda Williams; brothers-in-law, Dwight Williams and Charles Williams; special friend, Tommy Hale and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
