Margaret S. Boswell, 82, born January 23, 1935 in Centralia passed away on June 29, 2017 at Odin Healthcare Odin, IL. Preceding her in death were her parents, Orval and Catherine (Wilson) Boswell, as well as her brother, Jon Boswell.
She was a graduate of Centralia High School and the University of Illinois School of Journalism (1957). She joined the State Journal Registar in 1962, and retired on December 31, 1996. She worked as a reporter, assistant Sunday editor, assistant city editor, and copy editor.
Margaret was active in Springfield Muni Opera as an actress, director, and board member serving four terms as treasurer. She also was a performer and assistant director at Springfield Theatre Center. She a former boarder member and vice president of Opera Theatre of Springfield. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Centralia.
Margaret is survived by her nieces and nephews: Deborah Zelasko and her husband Neal, David Boswell and his wife Diane, Dante Boswell, and Dana Potter and her husband Doug. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews: Jessica Freels, Katie Boswell, Josh Boswell, and Matt Zelasko.
