                   Margaret  (Peggy)  Smith Steffens, 92,

                   Died peacefully at home in the early hours 

                   Tuesday,   November 14, 2017.

                   Born on May 2, 1925, she was the only

                   Daughter of Marguerite Roberts Smith and

                   John Paul Smith of Glen Burnie, Maryland.

                   She attended Washington College in Chestertown

                   Maryland.. She married the love of her life

                   Dietrich H. Steffens,a fellow student at Washington

                   College on June 21, 1947.

                   The couple purchased a county home

                   which they christened “The Lindens”to raise their family.

                   Peggy was an active member of Grace Lutheran

                   Church . She was active in local politics,

                   and was  involved in various charities, as well as

                   being a member of the Charles County Garden Club.

                   Peggy enjoyed traveling and entertaining and was a

                   gracious hostess.

                   Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband,

                   Dietrich H. Steffens, and her brother Lt. Colonel

                   Marlin Smith.

                   Peggy is survived by two daughters; Margaret Steffens

                   (William Chapman), and Elizabeth Young (Daniel) as

                   Well as her son Richard Steffens (Linda) .She is also

                   Survived  by seven grand children: Stewart Braun (Susan),

                   Robert Braun (Kristina), Elizabeth Young, Amy Steffens,

                   Paige Steffens, Douglas Steffens (Michelle), and Hope

                   Steffens. In addition, she is survived by two great

                   grand children Thomas Braun and Lawton Braun.

                   La Plata, Maryland on Monday November 27 from

                   4pm to 7 pm.

                    Church Tuesday, November 28th  2017 at 11 am.

                    be made to Grace Lutheran Church and School (1200 Charles Street, La Plata, Md  20646), or Hospice

                    of  Charles County, (2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, Md  20603) in honor of Margaret Smith Steffens.
