Margaret S. “Peggy” Poage, 77, of Steam Valley, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010, surrounded by her loving family, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.
Born August 10, 1933 in Cooptown, MD, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Gladys Campbell Scarboro. She was the wife of C. Douglas Poage who preceded her in death.
She graduated from North Harford High School in 1951. On September 16, 1951, she married C. Douglas. She spent 2 years in Texas while her husband served in the Army. Following the military years, she and her husband owned and operated C. Douglas Poage Artisan Well Drilling Company for 25 years. Then later, they owned and operated a dairy farm in Airville, PA for a year. Her husband’s love of hunting and of the mountains relocated her to Trout Run in 1973.
She was a member of William Watters Methodist Church in Jarrettsville, Maryland. She was a Sunday school teacher for years. Her family was and continues to be very active in the church.
Surviving are her four children, Vickie (Harold) Hill of Mansfield, Raymond Poage, Deborah (Joseph) Passuello and Valerie Lovett all of Steam Valley; nine grandchildren, Kimberly (Eugene) Bennett of Warrensville, Michael (Casey) Hopkins of Mansfield, Raymond Poage, Mark Poage, Joseph (Heather) Passuello III., Tiffany Lovett, Dylan Lovett all of Steam Valley, Jason Passuello, Adam Lovett both of Liberty; five great grandchildren, Chelsea (Curtis) Meixel of Liberty, Jonathan Bennett, Cody Bennett both of Warrensville, Dana Otis, Nathan Hopkins both of Mansfield. She was expecting a great-great grandchild in May. Also surviving are three siblings; Dorothy Pritt of Churchville MD, Raymond (Shirley) Scarboro of Darlington MD, Joan Szewczyk of Edgewood MD.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jeanne (Gross) Poage, and a brother-in-law, Olbert Pritt.
