Margaret Reynolds Cottrell, 85 Troy Margaret Reynolds Cottrell, 85, a life long resident of Troy, died on September 24 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, of an extended illness. She was born in Troy, on September 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Elizabeth Cairns Reynolds. Margaret was Salutatorian of the Troy High School Class of 1934 and was graduated cum laude from Russell Sage College in 1938. She taught high school business classes in Addison, NY, was assistant to Dean Doris Crockett at Russell Sage College from 1941 through 1944, and was employed by Norton Company in Watervliet from 1972 to 1981. She met Edwin Cottrell of Troy, in French class at the age of 16 and married him on March 22, 1941. Edwin predeceased her on October 30, 1971. Margaret was a board member, clerk, and Elder Emeritus of Troy Christian Church and a member of Church Women United. She was very active in church life until illness forced her retirement. She will be remembered for her tireless volunteer work in church, college, and youth organizations, her care-giving to her husband and mother, and devotion to her children and grandchildren. Margaret is survived by two children, Peter Cottrell and his wife Patricia Mordawski Cottrell of Essex Junction, VT, Susan Mumford and her husband Brian of Albany, NY; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Cottrell of New York, NY, William Cottrell of Burlington, VT, Erin Mumford of Albany, NY, Caroline Cottrell, of Essex Junction, VT, and Lindsay Mumford of Albany, NY.
