Margaret Louise (Kleckner) “Peggy” Mills, of Chapin, SC, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, Harrisburg, PA, and North East, MD, died November 17 at her home.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harry Stanley and the late Margaret (Richards) Kleckner.
A graduate of Lansdowne High School (PA) and Catawba College (NC), Mrs. Mills obtained a Master of Medical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College (PA). She had numerous jobs during a career of service, including the Head Start Program in Altoona, PA, American Red Cross, featuring service to military families in Harrisburg, PA, and the Adult Day Care Center of Union Hospital in Cecil County, MD. Mrs. Mills was also elected the first female Township Commissioner in Hampden Township, PA.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her loving husband Roland “Max” Mills of Chapin, SC whom she married in 1953; their son, Mark of Harrisburg, PA and granddaughter, Whitney; daughter, Lynn (Richard) Rennebaum of Chapin, SC and grandsons, Jake, Luke, and Josh; and daughter Lisa (Anthony) Lombardo of Fayetteville, NC and grandchildren, Dominic, Matthew, Maggie, and Anna.
Mrs. Mills is a member of St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, North East, MD. She enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, golf, and doing crossword puzzles. She was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
