Margaret “Peggy” June (Rowe) Harvey went home to be with her blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 23, 2021.

Peggy was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on June 3, 1945 to Ellis and Elva Rowe. She grew up in Dalmatia, Pennsylvania with her parents and older brother, Richard. She graduated from Mahoney Joint High School in nearby Herndon.

She attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana where she met her future husband, Larry Harvey. She graduated from Taylor in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Later, she earned a Master of Arts in Education degree in 1970 from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Larry and Peggy married on June 24, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York. They settled in Brookville, Indiana where they both taught in the local school system. Most of their married life was spent in their Marion, Indiana home where they reared their five children: Bryant, Dereck, Justin, Kindra, and Trevor. Her later years were spent in Greenwood, Indiana.

Peggy was a devoted wife of over 54 years. As a loving and caring mother, she was her children’s biggest cheerleader and constant supporter. She was a thoughtful grandmother to all 18 of her grandchildren. Our family would not be what it is today without her Godly example and deep love for all of us.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior while attending a Child Evangelism Fellowship event. She was a dedicated follower and servant of Jesus for the rest of her life. She was a beloved pastor’s wife for over 35 years at Blackford Baptist Temple in Hartford City, Indiana. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Greenwood Bible Baptist Church in Greenwood, Indiana.

Peggy taught elementary education in various capacities and schools for over 50 years. Her favorite grades to teach were 3rd and 4th. For at least 20 of those years, she annually directed her students in a musical Patch the Pirate play.

Peggy’s love of music was a significant part of her life as an accomplished organist, pianist, and vocalist. She especially loved serving as a musician in her church. She was a church organist for over 40 years, regularly sung as an alto in church choir and in various trios starting in high school, and led children’s choir at multiple churches. “Be Thou My Vision” was her favorite hymn. On the last Sunday she was able to attend church, with her husband, all five children, and several grandchildren in attendance, she played piano courageously and beautifully for her Sunday school class at GBBC.

She was preceded by her parents, Ellis Martin Rowe and Elva Buckwalter (Denlinger) Rowe of Lancaster, PA. She is survived by her spouse, Larry Paul Harvey (Greenwood, IN); children, Bryant Paul (Heather) Harvey (Avon, IN), Dereck Martin (Melissa) Harvey (Noblesville, IN), Justin Larry (Paige) Harvey (Knoxville, TN), Kindra Margaret (Andrew) Crumly (Theodore, AL), and Trevor John (Mindy) Harvey (Hartford City, IN); grandchildren, Kalista Rose (Levi) Grooms, Savannah Belle, Gavin Paul, and Aleena Lily Harvey, Kaelyn Elise and Zack Martin Harvey, Paetyn Rae, Makena Kae, Khloe Mae, Jaxton Ellis, and Hanalei Jae Harvey, Karissa Josephine, Kasidee Noelle, Alexander Nathaniel, and Kortney Margaret Crumly, and Trenton John, Maebry Jo, and Myla June Harvey; and brother, Richard (Kay) Rowe (Canton, MI).
