Margaret Marie Gaenzle Lewis was born June 6, 1930 in Weiser, Idaho. She passed away July 8, 2011 after a short illness in Boise, Idaho. In her early childhood she pronounced her name “Mugawee” Gaenzle. “Mugawee” was a tomboy as she called it, and had the attitude that “anything they could do I could do better!” Growing up on the family farm she survived canal floods and false Santa Claus sightings brought about by hoof prints from a stray calf and sleigh tracks made by a mischievous older brother. Margaret met a handsome man, Melvin, who was teaching high school. This blossomed into a marriage held during one of the coldest winters in the history in Weiser. Before the wedding Margaret worked at a freight company to make money for the event. After they were married there was a time of adjustment as with all relationships. For one thing Melvin no longer put a scratch-made cake in a bowel with milk to eat it. Margaret and Melvin lived in Weiser and Burley before settling in Caldwell to raise their family.
Margaret went on as an adult to graduate from college and teach elementary school. She and Melvin loved to travel and they rode camels in Egypt, waded in the Dead Sea, climbed a glacier in Norway, and enjoy the sunsets in Hawaii. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her parents Henry and Mary and her brother John (Nita) Gaenzle. She is survived by her children Rob (Janie) Lewis, Barbara (Bryan) Ravenscroft, David (Kim) Lewis and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
