Margaret M. Martire, age 96, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 60 years of Gregory Martire, passed away peacefully with her family at her side Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the CT Hospice in Branford. Born in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Giovanniello she had been a Fairfield resident since 1974. Mrs. Martire graduated from the New York Fashion Institute in 1935 and began her long career as a talented seamstress. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union of New York. Margaret loved the crochet and delighted in creating blankets and Scarves for her family and also used her sewing skills to make clothing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
