Margaret Lichnerowicz of South Bend,IN passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 26, 2022 with her daughter by her side. She was born March 13, 1932 to the late Claude and Esther (Lehman) Snider.
Margaret married the love of her life, Jack Lichnerowicz, on June 6,1953 in South Bend, IN at St. Stanislaus Church. Margaret and Jack were blessed with 4 children of their own and many others who often referred to them as their second mom and dad. Margaret developed a strong work ethic at a young age. As the 7th of 8 children in her family, Margaret attended John Adams High school, but left school to help her mother support the household. Margaret carried that worth ethic into her adult years to help support the family she built with Jack. She worked as the night manager at Ben Franklin where she spent many nights reminding teenagers not to stand in front of the door swallowing the goldfish they just purchased. Her love of cooking took her to the Clay Middle School cafeteria where she enjoyed preparing food for the students. Before retiring, she was the secretary at St. Stanislaus Church where she supported six priests. Margaret was known for her cooking skills especially when it came to baking her apple slices and Kiflies. She also had an amazing artistic talent that led to her love of crafts like sewing, making Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls, and attending ceramics class where she would make many holiday decorations that now are displayed in many of her family members’ homes. Ceramics class was also where she met her dear friend Shirely Rajski.Margaret loved to spend time at Donnell Lake with her family and friends where she never missed a 4th of July celebration with fireworks or turned down a pontoon ride. Margaret even had an adventurous side that led her to allowing her grandson to give her a jet ski ride at the age of 75. Margaret adored all of her grandchildren and never missed the chance to support them at any special event, cheer them on at a sporting event, or watch in amazement as they performed on stage. Margaret especially enjoyed her grandchildren giving her four great grandchildren that she treasured, and she always looked forward to a new picture, video or story about them. Margaret was also a fan of wearing pink nail polish and red lipstick and never missed a chance to leave a little trace of her kiss on your cheek. She also enjoyed her granddogs Taffy Apple and Zeke. After living in the same home for 40 years Margaret moved to North Liberty IN, where she moved into an apartment built by her son Mark in the home he shared with his wife Susie. Margaret would later move back to South Bend to the Sanctuary at Holy Cross where she resided for the last few years of her life. Margaret enjoyed attending activities with her favorite employee Michelle. Margaret was most excited when the family would visit especially when they brought her favorite snacks – corn dogs and milkshakes. There are no words to fully encompass the amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that Margaret was. Margaret lived a full life full of love and will be missed dearly by many.
