Margaret Elizabeth Moore was born on October 30, 1919 to Warren J. Moore and Emma Schwartz Moore, in Minneapolis Minnesota. She was the youngest of four children and the only girl. She moved to Denver with her parents at the age of 16, leaving her grown older brothers Don, Allyn, and Ken in Minnesota. She attended West High School for 1 ½ years where she distinguished herself by joining many singing groups.
