The world has lost a beautiful, loving, tender, amazing soul! Margaret Patton was beautiful on the outside, but most importantly, radiantly beautiful on the inside, with a heart that never stopped caring, never stopped giving – until her own heart gave out. Wherever she went, whoever she met, Margaret shined with grace, beauty and abundant love, touching the lives of many throughout her nearly century of living. Now joining her beloved husband, Omar, there is no doubt the two are laughing and dancing away in Heaven.

Born in a small town in Ohio, Margaret started attending school in a one-room schoolhouse. Underneath her warmth and gentle heart, Margaret was an incredibly strong woman. She survived the horrors of the Great Depression and World War II, the onset of a global pandemic and the numerous challenges that face us all.

Margaret always thought of taking care of others first; a trait she learned in her close-knit family – father Harry and Bertha Mae and her younger sister and dearest friend, Jeanette. Margaret met the love of her life, Omar, when, smitten by the lovely 14-year-old, the handsome 17-year-old slipped a note into her locker. That began a love affair that lasted more than a half century. After graduating with honors from high school, Margaret’s caring heart led her to four years of nursing school and becoming a Registered Nurse, specializing as a Surgical Nurse. By then, World War II was in full swing and Omar enlisted in the Army.

Talented, Margaret had a deep love of music, which became a major part of her life.

Although reluctant at first to move so far from where she grew-up, Margaret soon embraced, and then deeply loved her beautiful new home in Colorado – especially its peaceful, beautiful mountains. Because she loved her husband and four kids so dearly, she was willing to actively embrace their Colorado adventures, too, determinedly learning to ski in freezing weather and taking multiple wilderness camping trips, which she enjoyed, despite cooking and caring for five hungry people in a tent. Margaret loved special events, such as going to plays and musicals and taking trips to near and far places – even embarking on a solo cruise to Alaska and traveling half around the world to Australia with a friend later in life.

Margaret has left a deep hole with her passing, not only in her family’s hearts, but in others.’ She seemed to touch everyone she met, because she truly cared about them. Even while lying in a hospital bed in her final hours, she was asking nurses and technicians about their schooling, their careers, their families. That was Margaret – caring, giving, surprising sharp and smart and happily positive to the end. Her love of family, God and others never failed. She was the perfect mother and grandmother and she taught those around her how to live and age with grace. Simply put, she was the best of us and will be forever profoundly missed!

Margaret is survived by her four children, Gary Douglas Patton, Linda Marie (Patton) Langlais (Steven), Connie Sue (Patton) Steiert (John), Omar Michael Patton (Arlen); five grandchildren, Sean Langlais, Stephanie (Langlais) Odewumi (King), Dak Steiert, Christopher Patton, Kira (Patton) Molina (Dominick); and four great grandchildren, Jeremiah Patton, Alyssa Molina, Mariah Molina, and Aviana Odewumi, and one great-great grandchild, Ethel.
