After that date, she knew she had met the man she was going to marry. Just one month later in 1942, Walt and Lori, as he lovingly called her, married. Their union lasted a wonderful 53 years.

In 1978, Lori and Walt relocated to Delta, Pennsylvania after building their second home. Lori took a job as a cook and it was here, at a small restaurant called Scotty’s that Margaret Dolores Short became known for her Sausage gravy. She fed not only her Delta neighbors but many workers from the Peach Bottom Power Plant. She was a down home country cook and everyone loved her. After the restaurant closed, Lori was happy to spend her time with family, shopping and yard sales.
