Margaret Kathryn Smith, 84, of Jacksonville, IL died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville. She was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Literberry, the daughter of Dewey and Esther Houston Petefish. She married Richard C. Smith on Nov. 25, 1956, at Literberry Christian Church, and he survives.
She is also survived by three daughters, Julie Kathryn (William) Kunzeman of Concord, Pamela Ann (husband Gerry, deceased) Lacey of Jacksonville, and Nancy Marie (Michael) McDevitt of Durand; four grandchildren, Renee’ Nichole Stucker, Gregory Edward (Rachel) Bettis, Jason Michael (Stephanie) Bettis and Jeffrey Glen (Kimberly) Bettis; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Carolyn) Petefish of Literberry; and one sister, Joanne (Thomas) Moore of Literberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Margaret was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and was a licensed practical nurse at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville for over 20 years. She was a member of Franklin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting antiques and loved spending winters in Florida. Margaret’s home was a place where everyone was welcome.
