Margaret Jean Smith Watson
July 1, 1924-June 9, 2015
Margaret Jean Smith Watson was the last of six children born to John A. Smith and Nellie Hensley Smith in Ontario, Oregon on July 1, 1924. She grew up in the farming communities of Brogan, Oregon; Vale, Oregon; and Payette, Idaho graduating in 1941. In 1943 Margaret met and married John L. (Roy) Watson on March 28th.
In the summer of 1960, Margaret and Roy moved to Mountain Home, Idaho where Roy began a clothing business of his own. While Roy worked at his store, Margaret’s skills with money and head for business helped her secure employment working for the government at the Mountain Home Air Force Base. She worked there until retiring in the mid 80’s. Margaret was an avid bridge and pinochle player, and loved being involved with those friends and partners for many years. She loved playing cards and did so with a quick mind and an attitude of fun.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Susan (LaVere) Lee, her grandchildren: Matthew (Amanda) Lee, Michael (Tatiana) Lee, Megan (Jed) Garner, Mark (Michelle) Lee, and Kris (Randy) Hurles, her sister Hazel Keefer of Boise, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents, and her brothers and sisters: Thelma Anderson, Alvin, Irvin, and Beulah Baker.
