Margaret J. “Jane” Tackett, 94, of Lakewood, NJ died on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Jane was born in Newark, NJ, and lived in Orange, Maplewood and Cranford before moving to Leisure Village in 1986. She was a summer resident of Lavallette for many years and passed her deep love of the beach onto her family.
Jane enjoyed dancing and traveling, and was known for her distinctive sense of style. She was a member of the Dance and Kiwanis Clubs of Leisure Village, and was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Brick. Jane took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, and was looking forward to celebrating her 95th birthday with them at the end of August. Jane was predeceased by her husband of 53 years George A. Tackett and her parents Leslie and Marguerite (McGuirk) Stadelhofer.
Surviving are her children Carol (Thomas) Hafey of Staten Island, NY; George Leslie (Patricia) Tackett of Morristown and Lavallette, NJ; and Marguerite (John) Van Dorpe of Lavallette, NJ. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her devoted companion of 17 years Leonard Bush.
