Margaret Jean Morrissey, 91, of Urbandale, Iowa died on March 31, 2022, at Perry Lutheran Home under the care of St. Croix Hospice. Margy, our dearest aunt and sister, was born at home near Weller, Iowa on January 7, 1931, to John Morrissey and Monica Barron Morrissey. She attended rural schools and graduated from Lovilia High School in 1948. She moved to Des Moines and worked for Farmers Insurance Group for 38 years. Margy most enjoyed her family, the daily newspaper, the stock market, national politics, her Irish heritage, and no more than two beers a week.
She is survived by sisters Mary (Jim) Roan and Geri Clark, and sisters-in-law Ann Morrissey and Alverta Morrissey. She is further survived by nieces and nephews Jeff Morrissey, Mike Morrissey, John Morrissey, Jackie Meyer, Janet Coppick, Eddie Morrissey, Christina Carender, Mary Smith, Pat McGinn, Bill McGinn, John Roan, Paul Roan, Pat Roan, Margaret Scharnweber, Ann Galanis, Laura Roan, John Clark, and Jared Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jimmy Morrissey and Jack Morrissey, sister Kay McGinn, brothers-in-law Pat McGinn and Bob Clark, and 2 nieces, Kathy McGinn Phipps and Joanie McGinn Mitchell.
