Margaret “Maggie” Sue Irwin, 81, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born October 14, 1939 in Pawnee, Illinois, the daughter of Charles “Matt” Blakley and Mary (Boarman) Blakley. She married Glenn L Irwin on August 27, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Maggie is survived by two children: Blake Irwin of Clarksville, Tennessee and Valerie Kessler and husband Kendall of Ballwin, Missouri; five sisters: Jane Lederbrand of Pawnee, Illinois, Barbara Fawns of Athens, Illinois, Kathy Clemens of Athens, Illinois, Nancy King of Springfield, Illinois, and Lisa Madlinger and husband Kent of Lakewood, Illinois; ten grandchildren: Mary Brenna, Terence, Shannon, Catie, Blakley, Sam, Jim, Harris, Molly, and Chloe; seven great-grandchildren: Blake, Bradley, Lucas, Madison, Mae, Penelope and Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Glenn L Irwin, her parents: Charles and Mary Blakley, stepmother: Christina Blakley, daughter: Susan Monserret, brother: Richard Blakley, and daughter-in-law: Jamie Irwin.

Maggie graduated from Eastern Illinois University and worked at Kaskaskia College in Administration for 20 years before she retired. She enjoyed being part of bridge groups, traveling the world, and great food and drink. She was a member of Centralia P.E.O. and BPW Foundation women’s organizations and a Lady Elk. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Centralia where she served in the Altar Society. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
