Her parents moved to Fillmore, Utah where she lived until the death of her mother when Margaret was just 13 years old.
As the Great Depression continued, and her father traveled looking for work, she went to live with her brothers in-law in Salt Lake City where she attended West High School. At age 17 she consented to a “blind” date with US Coast Guard Boatswain’s Mate, Harlon Gail Winter, on a 30 day leave after serving 18 months in the Southwest Pacific aboard an LST, making invasions against the enemy. Seven days later on September 8, 1944 they were married in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 21, 1954.
Margaret was first and foremost a loving wife and devoted mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two grandsons. She is survived by her sweetheart of 65 years, her five children; Richard D. Winter, Gayle Winter Croft, Julie Ann Morse, Sandra Winter, and Paul H. Winter, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and her sister, Berna Davies of Fillmore, Utah.
