Margaret F. Jackson, 87, of Belton, passed from this life on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Margaret was born March 8, 1924 to the late William C. Montgomery and Annie Blair Montgomery in Hondo, Texas. She was reared in Houston, Oglesby and the Brookhaven area near Lake Belton.

She married Lee Ed Bigham on October 21, 1940 in Belton. They made their home at Sparta and Killeen before moving to Belton in 1950. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and faithful Christian who loved the Lord. She has been an active member of the Belton Church of Christ for 62 years. Margaret’s parents died at early ages and she willingly took her three siblings, Kenneth, Bobby and Charlene Montgomery into her home and raised them as her own. They have lovingly called her Mother most of their lives.

Margaret and Lee Ed had two children of their own, Lee Ed Bigham, Jr. and Frances Earline Bigham Cloudt. Lee Ed Sr. passed away at a young age. On May 8, 1955, Margaret married Earnest O. Jackson of Belton, Texas. Earnest had two daughters, Margaret Ann Jackson and Dorothy Lee Jackson Howard that he brought to their new family. Margaret loved and raised a total of seven children. She graduated from Scott and White School of Nursing in 1955 and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in 1966. Margaret was the administrator at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Belton from 1966 to 1976.

She went back to work in the mid 1980’s and served as administrator at Southland Villa, Golden Heritage and Southern Manor Nursing Homes in Temple before retiring for a second time in the early 90’s. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her two brothers. Survivors include her son Lee Ed Bigham Jr. and wife Sandy, her daughter Earline Cloudt and husband Ray, all of Belton and daughter, Margaret Ann Jackson of Marble Falls. Margaret Also has a surviving sister, Charlene and husband Roy Rockholt of Belton.

Margaret and Earnest have been blessed to have five grandchildren: Wendy Bigham Collins, Tammi Bigham Mitchum of Belton, Darrell Cloudt of China Spring, Sonya Howard of Austin and Jay Howard of Oklahoma City as well as John Rockholt of Belton, who is also proud to claim her as his “Granny”. She also has seven great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends who love her dearly.
