Margaret Frances Davis, 88, of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Barton Stone Home in Jacksonville.

She was born December 10, 1919, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Manuel L. and Mary Escorse Baptist. She married George W. Davis on May 28, 1938, in Bowling Green, MO. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1990.

Margaret is survived by two daughters, Patricia (husband, Jack) Jackson of Jacksonville, and Fran (Husband, Ken) Glass of Jacksonville, and a son, George (wife, Elaine) Davis of Downers Grove; nine grandchildren, Brian (wife, Andrea) Davis, Michael (wife, Songhi) Davis, Laurel Davis, Bonni (husband, Kenny) Waters, Mitchell Prather, Amie (husband, Jason) Langreder, Scott (wife, Michelle) Davis, Leslie (husband, Johnny) Dundon, Abby Glass; eleven great-grandchildren, Jalen Davis, Kâ??thena Davis, Zarick Davis, Jacob Davis, Rebecca Davis, Christy (husband, Aaron) McEvers, Tricia Prather, Austin Prather, Blake Davis, Parker Langreder, Audrey Dundon; three great-great- grandchildren, McKenzie McEvers, Kenneth C. McEvers, and Andrew Prather; and several cousins in the area and in Madeira, Portugal. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert H. Davis; one grandson, James Andrew Prather; and her sister and brother-in-law, Justena O. and Charles A. West.

Mrs. Davis retired from the Jacksonville Journal Courier after many years of service. She was a lifetime member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and served there as a Deacon, Trustee, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, and with the Willing Workers. She also served on the Jacksonville Council of Churches and was active in delivering Doorbell Dinners. She enjoyed camping, road trips, playing games with her grandchildren, and playing bunco with her family and her bunco club. Her church and her family were her life.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home on North Prairie Street in Jacksonville. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded, with burial at a later date at Jacksonville East Cemetery.
