Margaret Ellen Glenn passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, at her home. She was born August 3, 1941, in Albion, MI a daughter of Sydney and Irene F. (Carley) Binns.
Margaret was an elementary teacher for the Galesburg-Augusta Schools for 33 years before retiring. She was a former member of Galesburg United Methodist Church and a current member of First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. On April 2, 1961, Margaret married James K. Glenn who survives. Also surviving are two children, David (Julie) Glenn of Galesburg and Margaret (Bryan) Gettel of Waterford, two grandchildren, Adam Glenn and Stephanie (Brent) Latta, two sisters, Carolyn (Bruce) Juergens of Galesburg and Elizabeth Buss of Battle Creek.
Margaret was an avid quilter. She loved all aspects of quilting including teaching others the love of quilting.
Margaret continued sharing her love for teacher even after she retired by volunteering at Galesburg-August schools.
Margaret was always sitting with yarn and needles. She knitted hats that were donated to Bronson Hospital, Homeless Shelters, Galesburg Elementary, and the students at Beacon School located in Greeneville, TN. Her hands were always busy creating hats, dishcloths, scarfs, and mittens.
She also enjoyed traveling. Margaret enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends. She enjoyed taking day trips across the state, to nearby states as well as traveling to family and friends.
Margaret enjoyed making cookies. She always had a batch of cookies to send to meetings, college dorm rooms, and all the way to Beacon School.
Margaret has touched so many lives by donating her time and talents to the many kids that attended Beacon School. Every Christmas, Margaret would send a box of 60-75 hats to the youth that were at Beacon. She has been nicknamed Michigan Mom by many students and all the staff.
