Margaret (Peg) Sheppard passed away peacefully on November 5, 2006 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center following a brief illness. Peg was born on August 29, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She graduated from Wilkes-Barre General Nursing School and spent many years taking care of others as a registered nurse. Peg proudly served her country as an Army nurse in Naples, Italy, where she met and married the love of her life, Army Air Corps pilot Bill Sheppard.
Peg and Bill traveled the world during Bill’s 30-year military career with assignments in Italy, Germany, England, and many stateside assignments. After Bill’s retirement, they also enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and dedicating their time to helping others.
Peg was a devoted mother and grandmother to her five daughters, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with family. She was a long-time member of St.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William L. (Bill) Sheppard, her parents, and one sister. She is survived by her five daughters Joyce Weston, Rosemary Hillyer (Johnny), Nancy Ball (Scott), Maureen Byrd (Peter), Joan Lio (Chris), grandchildren, Kathy, Billy, John, Ryan, Adam, Eric, Kevin, Caitlin, and Caroline, and great-grandchildren Erin, Brian, Colin, and Megan. She is also survived by her sister, Nan Moffitt, and brother, Father James Boyle.
