Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Warnock died peacefully at her home while under hospice care on Tuesday September 30, 2014. Born November 9, 1935 she was the last of six children and sole daughter in the Irish immigrant family of Robert and Margaret (nee Gillen) Warnock then residing in Brooklyn. Her mother died suddenly following surgery in 1942.
Peggy was six years old. She went on to be a graduate of St. Theresa elementary school and Prospect Heights high school. Despite a life threatening auto immune deficiency she continued working full time while caring to her invalid father for 28 years until his death in 1970. Each of her brothers (William, Robert, David, Michael and Thomas) predeceased her.
Peggy was an exemplar of courage, dedication and love to all who knew her. She was a devoted friend of Dolores Bergener for over 60 years and a loving Aunt to her twelve nephews and nieces plus their multiple offspring as well as her five MacCormack cousins and many dog walking friends in Holiday City. RIP Peggy. You’ve done it well!
