Margaret E. Fanning, 92, of Virginia, IL died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. She was born February 12, 1925, in Cass County, the daughter of Walter and Grace Irvin Riley.  She married George E. Fanning on May 20, 1945, in Cass County and they remained inseparable partners until his death on March 11, 2008.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Perkins and Charlotte Fanning, both of Virginia; two grandchildren, Tracy Taylor (husband, Neal) and Lori Cook Krohe (husband, Josh), all of Virginia; two beloved great-grandsons, Andrew Taylor and Dylan Cook, both of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Riley, Harold Riley, and William Riley, and two sisters, Helen Kruse and Freda Dalton.

A graduate of Virginia High School, Marge was a farm wife and later retired from Capitol Records in Jacksonville.  In her retirement, she assisted her husband with projects in his woodworking shop.

She was a faithful and devoted member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in rural Virginia where she served over the years as a Sunday School teacher, Elder, youth group leader, and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Women.
