Margaret Ann Newcomer Lowe, 94, of Williamsport, Pa. died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 in Louisville, Ky. She had relocated to Louisville to be near her son Jack, nearly seven years ago. She had lived at Meadowview Health and Rehab Center for the past two years. After lunch, Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep.

    She was married for 58 years to Fremont “Buddy” Jay Lowe, who died in 1998. She is survived by her sons, Gary Lowe (Cherie) of Lynchburg, Va. and Jack Lowe (Janis) of Crestwood, Ky.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

    She was a member of the West End Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and Faith Alliance Church where she was involved in many church activities throughout the years. She loved being a homemaker to her family. As a teen she worked at Hurrs store and in a local shirt factory. She enjoyed archery with Buddy, swam with a seniors’ group at the Y, and broke her hip while roller skating in her early 60’s.

    Born March 29, 1917, to James Fremont (Updegraff) Newcomer and Letitia Shultz Newcomer, she had two brothers and a sister. Fremont âJunieã Newcomer Jr. (Lois), Horseheads, N.Y.; William Newcomer, deceased, (Shirley); and Letitia Newcomer Miller (Ronald). She made several new friends at Meadowview and at Middletown Christian Church in Louisville. The family wishes to thank George Irvin, James, Monica, Chris, Katarzyna, Crystal, Diane, Sarah, JoAnn, Shannon Bass and church volunteers who so lovingly cared about her.
