Margaret “Peggy” Muise (nee Ruane), died peacefully surrounded by love after a long illness.
Peggy was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Lynn and the Salem Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1959. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years working at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Salem Hospital, Salem State College Student Health, and Swampscott Trauma Center (now Family Doctors LLC). She is sure to be remembered fondly by the untold number of patients she treated over the years with sincere care and kindness.
Peggy was an avid traveler enjoying road trips across the USA with her daughter, repeated trips to her beloved Hawaii, and vacations with her husband Jim touring WWII sites in Europe, as well as domestically like the time she convinced him to go to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (it’s just an elevator ride, she said) and Blue Thunder Mountain Railroad (it’s just a train ride, she said). She was a founding and cherished member of The Javelinas, a family travel group that shared treasured travels to Ireland, Italy, Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands. Her wonderful travel companionship will be greatly missed, as will her love and care.
Peggy cannot be spoken of without mentioning her incredible sense of humor and thoughtfulness. She enjoyed caring for others, enjoying good food and drink with loved ones, museums, theatre and movies (musicals in particular). Peggy was an amazing cook, was not afraid of using “too much” butter (as if that is a thing) and had a strong sweet tooth. Her lovely face was a map of Ireland, her spirit was indomitable and soul bright. Her memory will be cherished always.
