Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 19 at the age of 93.
Born and raised in Osmond, Nebraska, she was one of 14 children. Margaret moved to Nampa, Idaho in her early twenties to join her sister, Frances, and other siblings who had already moved to the area. In 1948 Margaret met and married Howard Colson residing in Eagle, Idaho. After a year, they purchased the property in West Boise where they personally built the family home.
In addition to being a homemaker, Margaret worked outside the home always centering her schedule around the family’s needs. She worked in multiple school cafeterias including the management of the kitchen at Bishop Kelly High School from 1969-1973 where they made all the meals from scratch. She worked several years for Carroll’s Clothing Store in the stock room and later moved on to work for and retire from Hewlett Packard.
Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and a great Friend…Margaret was always the most kind-hearted, giving and loving person anyone ever knew. As her cousins in Austria stated, “Margaret was the reason that the contact of our family has not broken off. In our memory she lives on.”
Margaret is survived by her sons, Dwaine Colson of Boise, Idaho and Dan Colson of Woodbridge, Virginia, and daughter, Debra Colson-Jackson of Tacoma, Washington and their spouses; Marian Colson, Diane Colson, and Lee Jackson. Also, grandchildren Ryan Colson, Aaron Colson, Cindy Colson, Nicky Cooper and great -grandchildren Lucas and Lauren Colson, Mia and Evie Cooper.
Margaret was an amazing woman and will be sorely missed. Although, our loss is Howard’s gain. They are now together again. She will be buried next to her husband Howard Colson.
