Margaret A. Chilton, 93, of Virginia, IL died Monday, February 8, 2016, at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
She was born August 10, 1922 in Virginia, the daughter of Thomas R. and Esther Williams Cox. She married James William Chilton on August 11, 1944 in Winchester, IL and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1983.
She is survived by three children, Nancy Chilton-Logsdon of Morrison, John R. Chilton of Green River, WY, and Lora Chilton of Spring Hill, TN; five grandchildren, Melissa, Andrea, Monica, Jeremy and Cody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings, Lucille Bierhaus, Kenneth Cox, Bernice Purkey, Ralph Cox, Russell Cox, Charles Cox, Marjorie Cox, Walter Dean Cox, and Hazel Hish.
Mrs. Chilton was retired from Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville where she served as a cottage parent for over 20 years. She was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was formerly involved with the 4-H program, Cass County Home Extension, and Virginia Lioness Club.
