Mardi Jean Kelly was born on April 1, 1944 in Tacoma, Washington to Eugene Byrd and Martha Challender Byrd. She was raised in Lumberton,Mississippi, graduating from Lumberton High School in 1962. She attended Bucks County Community College, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where she earned an Associates Degree in Psychology in 1974. She moved to Texas in 1978, working for Shell Oil until her retirement in 2004. In 2006 she moved to Katy Texas where she could be closer to family.Mardi’s passions included genealogy, researching and compiling extensive information on the Wheat, DuBose and Byrd families. She wrote two genealogy books on the Wheat family. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and well as reading books. Her biggest passion however was in helping others, and developing close personal relationships that lasted her entire life.Mardi Jean Kelly passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Katy, Texas at the age of 76 is survived by her son, Stephen Davis and his wife Dana of Katy; grandchildren, Rebecca Davis of Houston, Rachel Higgins and her husband David of Cypress, Lauren Haymaker of Stanford, Connecticut, and Aaron Davis of Katy; great grandchildren, Christian, Summer and Madilynn; sister, Ginger Byrd Moncada and her husband David of Meridianville, Alabama; and by numerous other loving family members and was preceded in death by her a son, Michael Earl Davis; by her father, Arthur Eugene Byrd; her mother, Jennie Sue Byrd; her biological mother, Martha Nancy Challender; and by her brother, John Howard Byrd.m. to 4:30 p.m.m.m.
