Marcia S. (Siggelkoe) Esche, 87, of LaSalle passed away at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru. Mrs. Esche was born November 12, 1921, in Ogden, IA to Russell and Jessie (MacPherson) Siggelkoe.
She married Floyd Esche on June 25, 1949, in West Haven, CT. He passed away on December 13, 2004. Marcia graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. and worked as a licensed physical therapist at the LaSalle County Easter Seal Center in Ottawa from 1964 to 1984. She became the director in 1967. She was a long-time member of the Red Cross as well as the Garden and Women’s Clubs of LaSalle. As an active 50-year member of the First Congregational UCC church, she served on numerous boards and committees. Marcia was known for her commitment to outreach through countless UCC service projects. An avid reader with an interest in politics, she kept the family up to date on current events. Some of her other hobbies and skills were knitting, sewing, and singing alto in the church choir.
She is survived by her children; David (Sharon) Esche of Geneseo, Margaret (Joe) Jankauskis of Sycamore, Peter (Kathy) Esche of Presque Isle, WI, and Allison Reidies of LaSalle; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.
