Marcia M. Gurwell, 86, of Chariton died December 17, 2011, at The Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa. Mrs. Gurwell was born December 25, 1924 in Chariton to Edwin H. and Eva Kerr Curtis. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1942. On February 3, 1945 she married Howard K. Gurwell. The couple lived in Des Moines, Iowa City and Clarion, Iowa returning to Chariton in 1952.
She was a secretary for the State Dept. of Public Instruction and The State University of Iowa and was co-owner of The City Cleaners in Chariton.
Surviving are her husband Howard; two daughters Debra White and husband Larry of Northfield, MN and Matina “Tina” D.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Edwina M. Houghton.
