Marcia Elisabeth Osgerby, 72, of Spirit Lake passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Marcia was born on September 4, 1948, in Spencer, IA to John “Jack” and Marion “Mary” (Dierks) Rensink. She graduated from Central High School in Phoenix, AZ, where she was the President of the Girl’s Athletic Association and the girl’s field hockey captain. She was also awarded a four-year perfect attendance certificate. She went on to attend and graduate from cosmetology school in Phoenix. She was united in marriage to Terry Osgerby on August 18, 1970, in Phoenix, AZ. The couple made their home in Spirit Lake, where she ran her own daycare for more than 45 years, touching the lives of many children and their families. Marcia was a faithful member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, feeding the variety of birds that visited her feeders, cross-stitching, making her home welcoming to many, and baking. She was most famously known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies. Her kids and grandkids always came first, and she made sure she supported and attended all their events. Marcia was the epitome of selflessness and she always put others first. Her strongest quality of all was her ability to persevere, especially during her two battles with cancer. She was victorious against breast cancer 18 years ago, however, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in February 2019. Over the past two years, even on her hardest days, she still carried her wonderful sense of humor and poured her strength out on those around her. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Terry Osgerby of Spirit Lake; daughter Elisabeth (Joe) Jennings of Spirit Lake and their children Caleb and Hannah; son Kerry Osgerby of Spirit Lake and his daughter Olivia; daughter Alecia (Robert) Fagen of Urbandale and their children Lauren and Meredith; daughter Sara (Elijah) Cornell of Spirit Lake and their son Cael; sister Mary (Rick) Rehm of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces and nephews, especially two close nieces Michelle Barron and Wendy Rehm, her closest friend, Jan Harris and her husband, Tom; as well as a very cherished extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
