Marcia A. Bedell, age 89, of Spirit Lake, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. She was born on June 14, 1926, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Ernest and Alice (Schofield) Dowden.
Marcia spent her early years in Aberdeen, South Dakota, before moving with her family to Spirit Lake in 1935. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1944. Marcia was united in marriage to Jack Bedell on May 29, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Marcia was a member of the United Methodist Church, P.E.O., the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W Auxiliary.
She was a motivated person and loved to excel at things she was passionate about. Marcia enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, where she was a Life Master, playing tennis, playing golf, where she had two holes in one, watching golf, tennis and baseball on TV, working on cross-word puzzles and duck hunting.
Marcia is survived by her two children, Deenie Schuchert, and her husband, Jim of Spirit Lake, and Dr. Dick Bedell, and his wife, Kaki of Midlothian, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Schuchert, Wade (Joslyn) Bedell, Courtenay Bedell, Allison (Steve) Zabel, Clay Bedell, Aaron Bedell and Kara (Mike) Greer; and eleven great-grandchildren, Lexi, Grant, Payton, Taylor, Carson, Brock, Ridgley, Sydney, Lauren and David. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Bedell; grandson, Todd Schuchert; brother, Murray; and two sisters, Shirley and Nadine.
